Buchanan Field Airport is one of two small Contra Costa County airports for civil/public use. It has four runways and covers 495 acres near downtown Concord. ISI provided inspection and testing for runway safety area improvements. The project was constructed according to Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) standards. The project entailed approximately 3,500 LF of runway, consisted of more than 9,500 tons of hot-mix asphalt (HMA), 50,000 SY of runway grooving, and asphalt concrete (AC)/permeable friction course (PFC) pavement cold milling, 30,000 SY of cold-in-place recycled pavement, cast-in-place-recycling (CIR) agent, and asphalt rejuvenating seal.
